Double boiler espresso
Two independent boilers, one for coffee and one for steam, with temperature under control. The most precise domestic machine.
- Indicative price
- €1200–3500
- Capacity
- 1–2 tazas
- Grind
- Fine
A double boiler machine separates the two works. One boiler keeps the coffee water at the exact temperature, usually with PID, and the other one produces steam. You can change the temperature of the grade-to-grade coffee according to your taste and vaporize milk at once.
It is the option for those who want to repeat results accurately and often prepare milk drinks. The clear bears are grateful to be able to raise the temperature; the dark ones, to lower it.
- In favour: maximum stability and temperature control.
- In favor: coffee and steam at once, no purges.
- Against: high price and more consumption.
- Against: big and heavy, with more pieces to keep.
They cost €1.200-3,500 or more. See if you have PID in both boilers, saving mode, option to turn off the steam boiler if you don't use it and good technical service. Use proper water: lime is your worst enemy.
Cheapest alternative: one with heat exchanger (€900-2,000).
This coffee bar runs on coffee… literally. And the odd ko‑fi.
