Fabric filter (sleeve)

The fabric sleeve of the kitchens from before: it covers the pot coffee and leaves a clean cup, with more body than paper.

Indicative price
€5–15

The sleeve is a bag of cotton fabric sewn to a handle ring. It has been used in Spain, and in many Latin American countries, to strain the puchero coffee. Let the coffee oils pass, so the cup has more body than paper, but it retains almost all the pose.

Before premiere, boil it in water. After each use, rinse it only with hot water, without soap, and keep it wet in the refrigerator inside a container, or dry and air, so that it does not take odors.

  • In favour: reusable for months.
  • In favor: cup with body and no pose.
  • Against: you need care not to get any smells.
  • Against: with time it is dyed and must be changed.

It costs €5-15. Look for thick, untreated cotton, and a well-supported ring on your pitcher.

Cheapest alternative: a fine colator with a paper filter.
