Calculators
Quick tools for coffee, batched cocktails and home brewing, in grams, millilitres and degrees Celsius.
Coffee and water
Pick a method or type your ratio (grams of water per gram of coffee).
For 15 g of coffee: 240 g of water.
For 500 g of water: 31.3 g of coffee.
Grind size
Approximate particle size per method and, if you know your grinder's microns per click, how many clicks to start at.
Between 450 and 750 microns.
A starting point, not a rule: bitter means coarser, sour or weak means finer. Log it in “My coffee”.
Batched cocktails
Mix ahead of the party and add the water the ice would have given.
Mix 720 ml + 158 ml of cold water = 878 ml. Keep it in the fridge or freezer.
A guide only. Add citrus juice on the day and soda or sparkling wine when serving.
Beer ABV
From the hydrometer’s original and final gravity.
About 5.3% alcohol by volume.
Priming sugar
How much sugar to add at bottling for the carbonation you want.
118 g of sugar in total (5.9 g per litre).
Use proper beer bottles and stay within the carbonation they can hold: too much pressure can burst them.
