A spleen is all you need to make coffee without appliances. From here come the Spanish puchero coffee, the cowboy coffee and, with a small and narrow spleen, a home-made version of the Turkish coffee. It is a direct infusion: the ground coffee stays in the hot water and then it decays or collides.
For cowboy coffee, take 500 ml of water to boil, wait 30 seconds, add 30 g of thick coffee, remove and let infusion 4 minutes. Then put a cold water chorrite over it so that the pores come down and serve slowly, without removing. With a fabric filter or a fine strainer, the cup is cleaner.
- In favor: it costs nothing; surely you already have one.
- In favor: it serves many cups and in any fire.
- Against: there's always a bit of a pose left.
- Against: If it boils too long, the coffee gets bitter.
Any steel spleen of 0.5-2 l is useful; a new one costs €10-30. A spindle helps to serve without lifting the pores.
It's already the cheapest option. For a cleaner cup without spending much, add a fabric filter or a fine strainer.
This coffee bar runs on coffee… literally. And the odd ko‑fi.
