Fluid bed toaster

A fluid bed toaster blows hot air from below so strongly that the grains float and turn. The heat reaches all alike, so the tweets are uniform and fast: 6-12 minutes. The shell is flying to a picker.

The simplest, like the Fresh Roast SR540 or SR800, are 120-225 g and allow you to adjust the heat and the fan by hand. The most advanced, such as the Kaffelogic Nano 7, follow the web profiles by software with 100-120 g.

• In favour: uniform and repeatable.
• In favor: little smoke and the shell collected.
• Against: small thongs.
• Against: more expensive than home methods.

Safety: Although it is a little smoke, it is tweeding by a window or under the bell, never leave it alone and empty the casing collector after each batch.

Guidance prices: Fresh Roast, 200-300 €; Kaffelogenic Nano 7, 900-1,300 €. Look at the temperature control, whether it shows the grain temperature and the size of the batch. Cheapest alternative: a hot air palomiter (€25-40), with the same idea in small.
