Decaper and panifier
A classic home apiece: the panifier removes the grain and a heat gun annoys it. Good control and big tongs.
- Indicative price
- €45–90
- Capacity
- 225–450 g
This assembly combines an old panifier, which removes the grain with its shovel, and a heat gun, or decapator, that blows hot air from above. You have 225-450 g in 12-20 minutes, and you mark the pace by approaching or removing the gun.
It gives a lot of control and a pretty uniform tweets, with quantities greater than a palomiter. It is a DIY solution: each assembly is different and touches to experiment.
- In favor: large and good heat control.
- In favour: cheap with second-hand appliances.
- Against: homemade and unelegant assembly.
- Against: very hot surfaces and a lot of shell.
Safety: do it outdoors, on a surface that does not burn, with thermal gloves and never left alone. The gun and the bucket burn, and the shell can light: have a fire extinguisher nearby.
A decapator costs €25-50 and a second-hand panifier, €20-40. Better a decaper with adjustable temperature. Cheapest alternative: a pan.
